I love gangster films. Be it the James Cagney flicks of my youth or the more modern Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, I love them in every single form.
It goes without saying that after the Godfather trilogy, one of the greatest gangster movies to ever hit celluloid is Goodfellas. Based on the book, Wiseguys, the film follows the rise up the ranks of mob foot soldier Henry Hill and is a brilliant riveting movie.
There are now apparently plans to give the movie the small screen treatment in the form of its own Soprano’s-esque TV series with even whispers of original author and screen writer Nicholas Pileggi to get involved. This could either be the greatest thing since sliced bread or a terrible mistake, either way I’m certainly intrigued to find out.
